  • Jennifer Gordon

    Co-Lead with Sean Locke

    Dr. Jennifer Gordon is a Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Regina, and the director of the Reproductive Mental Health Research Unit. Currently a Tier II Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Canada Research Chair in the Biopsychosocial Determinants of Women’s Mental Health, Dr. Gordon is dedicated to advancing the identification, prevention, and treatment of mental health conditions uniquely affecting women.

  • Joy MacDermid

    Co-Lead with Kim Lavoie

    Dr. Joy MacDermid is a clinical epidemiologist, physiotherapist, hand therapist and Distinguished Professor of Physical Therapy at Western University. She holds a Canada Research Chair in Musculoskeletal Outcomes and Knowledge Translation, The Dr. James Roth Chair in Musculoskeletal Measurement and Knowledge Translation and a CIHR sex and Gender Champion. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and The Royal Society of Canada. Her research focuses on upper extremity function, musculoskeletal health, design and evaluation of surgical and rehab interventions/programs, public safety personnel health, work injury, implementation science, and the intersectional impact of Sex and Gender and other personal/social factors on health.

  • Kim Lavoie

    Co-Lead with Joy MacDermid

    Dr. Kim Lavoie is a professor of psychology and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Behavioural Medicine at the University of Quebec at Montreal. She is the Co-Director of the Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre, a fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, and co-lead of the Canadian Behavioural Interventions and Trials Network (CBITN) and International Behavioural Trials Network (IBTN). She is internationally recognized for her research on chronic disease prevention (with a focus on heart, lung and metabolic diseases) and the impact of behavioural interventions, such as motivational communication, on health behaviours and chronic disease outcomes. She has held more than $78 million in grant funding (including $20 million as PI) and has more than 250 peer-reviewed papers

  • Linda Carlson

    Co-Lead with Vincent Gosselin Boucher

    Dr. Linda Carlson has held the Enbridge Research Chair in Psychosocial Oncology since 2007, is Full Professor in Psychosocial Oncology in the Department of Oncology, Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology. She is the Director of the Alberta Complementary Therapy and Integrative Oncology (ACTION) Centre (ACTION Centre | My Site (action-centre.ca), and is Director of Research and continues to work as a Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Psychosocial Resources at Cancer Care Alberta, where she has provided clinical service since 1997.

  • Sean Locke

    Co-Lead with Jennifer Gordon

    Dr. Sean Locke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University. His research focuses on developing complex interventions to promote healthy habits for chronic disease prevention or management. For example, his work applies co-design approaches to work with knowledge users to co-create programs that support long-term exercise engagement.   

  • Simon Bacon

    Co-Lead with Rita Henderson

    Dr. Bacon is a behavioural scientist interested developing tailored interventions to help positively change high-risk behaviours. Most of his work has focused on health behaviours (e.g., physical activity, diet, weight management, medication adherence) and has targeted health-related outcomes. The work that he does is multidisciplinary and intersectoral, requiring the engagement of a number of different collaborators and partners, and utilises a variety of mixed-methodologies. Dr. Bacon is co-director of the Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre (MBMC), and co-leads the International Behavioural Trials Network (IBTN) as well as the Canadian Behavioural Interventions and Trials Network (CBITN).

  • Vincent Gosselin Boucher

    Co-Lead with Linda Carlson

    Vincent is a Professor in the Department of Physical Activity Sciences at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Director of the PHARE Lab. His research program focuses on supporting healthcare professionals in the prevention and management of chronic diseases, with the overarching goal of reducing morbidity and premature mortality. Specifically, his work targets three complementary areas: (1) strengthening the psychological and organizational support of healthcare professionals as a key condition for engagement in care relationships, (2) enhancing their capacity to navigate health literacy challenges, misinformation, and disinformation, and (3) developing and evaluating digital tools to assess and strengthen motivational communication competencies in complex and information-rich care environments.

  • Rita Henderson

    Co-Lead with Simon Bacon

    Dr. Rita Henderson’s background is in the social sciences and health inequities research. As a models of care scientist in Family Medicine, Rita’s research program focuses primarily on Indigenous health, ranging from population health research to clinical intervention research, to the integration of these two. Rita earned a PhD addressing the social impacts of multi-generational trauma among communities having endured oppression in southern Chile, and has since adapted this expertise to the health impacts of historical trauma among Indigenous communities in North America.
