Program Overview
Working in small groups led by experts in innovative clinical trials and behavioural intervention development, mentees will engage with the CBITN’s core curriculum modules (approximately 30 hours of readings, videos, and quizzes) and learn about developing effective behavioural interventions and conducting high-quality trials.
This curriculum series is an excellent opportunity for those with basic experience developing or testing behavioural interventions or those wishing to develop their knowledge base in this domain.
Curriculum includes topics such as:
Basic Concepts and Unique Elements of Behavioural Interventions and Trials
Theories of Behaviour Change
Persons with Lived Experience Engagement and Designing for Implementation
Behavioural Intervention Development Models
Optimising Interventions: Introduction to MOST
Clinical Trial Designs
Pilot Studies
Evaluation: Outcomes and Fidelity Measures
Implementation Science
Knowledge Transfer and Mobilisation
The Use of Reporting Guidelines (CONSORT, TIDieR).
The program also includes
participation in approximately four 1-hour sessions hosted by the Mentee Forum, a participatory space designed for, and led by, mentees around topics relating to career building and skills development
regional networking events
the CBITN Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility training (approximately 3 hours of readings, quizzes and seminar)
Meet-the Author sessions with curriculum authors and experts from the field
A mandatory mentoring workshop designed for mentees’ supervisors
The program concludes around a national event at which mentees present their intervention protocol or project in which they have implemented the knowledge acquired during the program.

NOTE: CBITN is committed to ensuring Francophone representation across mentee cohorts. However, should the majority of mentees work predominantly in English, we cannot guarantee that all program activities will be conducted in French. While the core curriculum is offered in both official language, and while an active effort is made to provide all other training materials in French, a functional understanding of English may be required to ensure full engagement and optimal participation in the program.
